Just a few weeks into his tenure at Inter Miami, Messi has already climbed to the third spot on the club's all-time scoring chart, a mere 20 goals away from fellow countryman Gonzalo Higuain who occupies the leading position.

Following an initial goal by Josef Martinez for Miami, Messi showcased his brilliance by netting in the 20th minute with a powerful low strike from beyond 30 yards. The ball evaded the outstretched grasp of Union goalkeeper Andre Blake, ricocheted off the right post, and found the back of the net.

Jordi Alba, the seasoned Spanish player, extended Miami's lead with a third goal just before halftime, marking his first goal in four appearances since his recent inclusion in Inter's roster. However, Alejandro Bedoya of Philadelphia managed to pull one back with 17 minutes remaining.

Any hope of a late Union resurgence was quashed as David Ruiz secured a fourth goal for Miami in the 84th minute.

In the parallel Leagues Cup semifinal on Tuesday, Nashville SC triumphed over Monterrey with a 2-0 victory, setting the stage for a final clash against Miami.

The ultimate showdown for the trophy is slated for August 19 in Nashville, Tennessee, as the two teams collide.

The Leagues Cup, an annual tournament that pits MLS teams against Mexico's Liga MX, expanded its scope this year to encompass all teams from both leagues.
